  • Summary of proposed changes*

Prior to 2018 CEAB visit, a taskforce was formed by FESNS Dean to explore making Nuclear Engineering take the common first year, which would help the GA coverage. The attached memo was presented to the Dean of FESNS and was shared with CEAB during the visit. The submitted material to CEAB included the common first year as a way forward, however after the visit there was no formal academic changes made to reflect what was reported to CEAB. Last year ECC received course changes (NUCL 1530U) which now include some GA and learning outcomes which are a part of the common first year (ENGR 1015U). Nuclear PCC also considered the change that ESNS 1200U is an equivalent course to ENGR 1025U and would cover all GAs and there was no need to take the common first year. However, it was discovered that the sequencing of the courses was not in order and does not resemble the progression of GA’s (ENGR 1015U/ ENGR 1025U). In preparation for the next CEAB visit and to rectify the outcome, and to change the sequence of courses the Dean of FESNS has presented the proposed changes to be implemented
    • Remove ESNS 1200U: Engineering Graphics & Design from year 1, Semester 2 from the program map for Nuclear Engineering & its corresponding engineering & management program
    • Add ENGR 1025U: Engineering Design to Year 1, Semester 2 to the program map for Nuclear Engineering & its corresponding engineering & management program
    • Move NUCL 1530U: Radiation Nuclear Technologies from Year 1, Semester 2 to Year 1, Semester 1 of the program map for Nuclear Engineering & its corresponding engineering & management program
