Upon completion of this course, students will:
1) Be able to demonstrate their knowledge about research on science fiction and society from humanities and social science inter-disciplines.
2) Know about and utilize significant methods and theories in the field of science fiction and society studies (e.g., narrative analysis, content analysis, ideology analysis, textual interpretation, bias, audience studies, online reception studies).
3) Be able to enact some science fiction communication skills: spoken, written, digital creative and critical (e.g. by summarizing articles, participating in discussions, interpreting, analyzing and commenting on works of science fiction, creating digital media about science fiction).
4) Enact their autonomy with regard to academic, civic, and professional development as related to science fiction and society.
5) Reflect upon the limits of their knowledge about science fiction and its role and impact in socially shaping real science and technological innovation.
