The course will employ a variety of methods to assess student performance and comprehension of the materials and experiential learning components.
The grade of the course will reflect performance on a final, tests, individual assignments, and case study, with weights determined as follows:
2 Individual Assignments (Avg.) ......................20%
3 Tests (5% each)..............................................15%
Overall Term Project.........................................30%
Final exam…………………………………….35%
Total ...............................................................100%
Overall Term project will consist of a meticulous discussion of a financial planning case or submission of a comprehensive report about a field experiment/experience, or submission of a report about practical research studies pertinent to wealth management/financial planning. At the beginning of the course, students will usually have the opportunity to choose which option they want to pursue to complete their overall term project.
Tests and final exam will be designed to test knowledge of the assigned readings and text material. They may consist of various types of questions (e.g., case scenario, essay style, case analysis, short answer, multiple-choice, & problems). The nature of the tests will be made clear in class, as we approach the time of the test. For tests, each student is supposed to take the tests with a closed book and the only electronic device allowed will be a calculator; any other items require instructor’s permission well before the tests or final exam.
