    Kinematic and engineering design analysis for automotive machine components including static and fatigue loading conditions applied to shafts, threaded fasteners and permanent joints like welds, rivets and bonded assemblies. Selection and design of bearings, gears, belt drives, springs, brakes/clutches, flywheels. Velocity and acceleration analysis of linkages and cams.

    1. Choose an appropriate theory for various automotive components to prevent failure resulting from static and variable loading.
    2. Apply these theories to shafts, bolts, welds, bearings and gears.
    3. Use the key tables, charts and diagrams for automotive engineering design.
    4. Find critical location, deflection, speed and stress for various components.
    5. Estimate expected life and fatigue factor safety for infinite life.
    6. Analyze position, velocity, angular velocity and acceleration for linkages.
    7. Determine torque and inertia for flywheels.
    8. Determine shape, position and motion of cam and cam follower.
