  • Summary*

The Marine biology specialization within our biology program includes a semester abroad at BIOS (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences) where students take four marine biology courses. Winter 2025 will be the first semester students will go from Ontario Tech to BIOS. The cost to the students for the BIOS courses depends on the number of classes they take and the number of students that attend.  This year we have a small cohort of students so to help with the costs we will be offering one of the courses (BIOL 3810 – Introduction to the World Ocean) at Ontario Tech in a condensed format, running January to early February.  After they complete this course they will head to BIOS for the remaining three courses. This decision is for the 2024/2025 academic year and the program will be evaluated in the coming year to determine if this change will be on a permanent basis or not.  If it will be a permanant change the proper curriculum changes will follow.
