Visit the files section of the toolbox on the right-hand side of the form to attach any supporting documentation.
The Liberal Studies - Advanced Entry program provides college graduates with the opportunity to apply their two-year college diploma toward a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Liberal Studies.
Students enrolled in the Liberal Studies Advanced Entry program will enter directly into third year of the Liberal Studies degree program at the university and will follow a modified program map that will allow students to complete the program in two years of full-time study.
Admission is competitive. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school marks, distribution of subjects taken, and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.
For further information, please visit college-university transfer programs.
To qualify for the Liberal Studies Advanced Entry program, the minimum entrance requirement is a completion of any two-year Ontario College diploma (or equivalent).
The Liberal Studies program was established in 2019 to showcase interdisciplinary FSSH undergrad teaching, research and publication to current and prospective students. Two-thirds of students enrolled in LBAT 2000U are STEM students, taking the course as an elective. At its inception, the Liberal Studies program was to offer a cluster of courses (or stream) on topics and issues in science, technology and society. In 2022-2023, a minor in Science, Technology & Society was developed, to service OTU students. As such, Liberal Studies is an obvious home for a new Advanced Entry program to an BA in Liberal Studies and this will open a new path to student enrollment in FSSH.
The new Advanced Entry BA will:
-support OTU's "tech with a conscience' mission, and identity
-increase enrollments to FSSH (the Advanced Entry would be marketed to College students as a new pathway to the BA program, and appear in calendar and recruitment materials, opening a new enrollment pathway into the FSSH
-support OTU’s pursuit of “tech with a conscience”.
exemplify how the FSSH is contributing to OTU advancing “tech for the social good”.
-be a home for students wishing to have an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree.
-complement the development of a new Sociology BA program to increase enrollment in many courses across the various programs.
-foster life-long learning/learning across the life span and enable new students to upskill to a BA in Liberal studies.
-demonstrate FSSH putting the “Arts” and “Social” into STEM at OTU.

Student feedback was collected informally through Academic Advising. Also at the annual University Fair where interest was indicated by prospective students. Consultation has also taken place involving the Program Director, Associate Dean and Dean. This MPM was also presented at the Undergraduate Curriculum committee for discussion and review
The Liberal studies advanced entry BA helps to facilitate access for more students because of the shortened time frame.
